Your journey will start on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, winding through farmland past Mt Nicholas Station. The trail then heads away from the lake into the Von Valley past the old Mt Nic Homestead. There is one climb where you will gain elevation reasonably quickly where you are greeted with a spectacular open valley nestled between mountain ranges. Your journey will take you up to the Mavora Lakes bus shelter where you can choose to continue your ride up to the south lake of Mavora, or climb in our comfy van.
Grade 1-2 for most of the trail.
There are two ford crossings that are grade 3. Be sure to bring a change of footwear if you are unsure of riding through a bumpier surface with 6 inches of water.
