TRAIL STATUS: The trail is open year round. Entry is by gold coin donation.

There is a trail map at the entrance of the trail.

Please be respectful in wet muddy conditions. Aggressive riding in the wet can cause trail damage. Best ridden in the dry, or during/after light rain.

Welcome to the Simpson family farm, on the edge of Fiordland National Park and just 6km from Te Anau’s town centre.

Please respect the animals and property so we can continue to allow free public access to the mountain bike park. NO DOGS, MOTORBIKES OR HORSES.

Perenuka is a privately built and maintained trail network on a small sheep farm. A great few hours of single track with a grade options to suit everyone.

Trail Tips

Here’s some of our top tips to help you enjoy your time out on the trails. 

If you want help with itineraries, bike hire, transport or accommodation we can help. 

Make sure your bike is in top condition for the trails. If you need a tune up, come see us at our Bike Workshop in Te Anau, or hire a bike for the day.

We recommend taking an old rag with you. If there sheep are in the paddock, or have been recently, your bike will get sheep poo on it which is difficult to clean off once dry.

Just 6km from Te Anau town centre on the corner of Sinclair Road there is a growing single track playground for mountain bikers.

You can ride your bike, or ask us for a shuttle.

Talk to us about our shuttle service which can get you to and from the trails.

There are obstacles on the trail which can be slippery when wet

You’ll get some great views at the top of the hill looking over Lake Te Anau back towards Fiordland. A great spot to stop and take in the scenery on a clear day.

Te Anau is the perfect base to explore many of the areas trails, including the amazing Perenuka Bike Park. There are lots of accommodation options, for all budgets – talk to us about the best place to stay for your trip.
