As with any multi day bike tour, there are lots of small things you can do to help prepare for your adventure.
Check out our gear list and ensure you have everything you need.
HOW FIT DO YOU NEED TO BE?
This depends on how long you have given yourself to ride the trail. Most of our clients ride the Around The Mountains trail over three days with an extra day on the Lake 2 Lake trail. If you have a day or two longer available, it allows you more opportunity to relax and recover. For example , if you spread your Around teh Moutin trial ride over four days instead of three, you have two days in the middle quite a bit easier than the first and last days. Or, even “cruisier”, if you would really like to spend less than five hours per day in the saddle, we recommend the Éxplorer 6-Day Itinerary.
Regardless of how you arrange your trip, the basic rule is that the more “bike fit” you are, the greater the enjoyment you will have.
Do some good day rides in the weeks leading up to your bike adventure. The more time in the saddle prior to riding the trail, the happier you will be once you’re out there.
The first day of your tour is the most spectacular, but also most physically challenging. There is a significant hill climb to the Von Saddle so you are best to take advantage of our luggage transfer service and carry only the gear that is essential for the day’s ride. You don’t want to finish your first day feeling like a wreck and wondering how you are going to get on a bike again the next day!
A good tip to know, for this Von Saddle day, we will have a support vehicle following our cyclists between Walter Peak and Mavora Lakes. If you are struggling or want us to carry extra gear for you, we will have you covered.
